I really appreciate Dot and all the others that answer questions about gear. Sometimes I feel like a moron asking questions that I know i could find if I did a search. But yes, Its true, the dang search hasn't worked for mounths. I remember the good old days of just punching in a key word and there your answers were. Anyway, thanks alot to Dot and all those who always respond to mine and everone elses posts. You guys really help all of us make good recording and purchasing decisions.

peace

Hz, the search seems to work pretty well now. I've gotten the hang after just a few tries. Thanks. I don't understand the slightest bit of what it takes to run this stuff, so I'll be content just to continue sending money.

Actually, Dot has given the thread "Bring me the head of Jack Hobson-Dupont" new meaning.

Now that was a great thread. Does anyone know if it's still floating around in cyberspace somewhere?

The search engine appears to be working quite well now. So, I must throw out some thank you's to Hz, Geet, Jack and anyone else who had anything to do w/ getting the functions fixed. The problem w/ overzealous cookies also seems to have been remedied.

On Feb 9th [ the day this thread started ] I did a search for "tony larking" and it quite inaccurately, pulled up all these unrelated topics.

A search for "tony larking" now, today, pulls up these corresponding and [ correctly ] relevant threads:

Speaking for myself, you're more than welcome, Dot. And to be accurate, this is all the work of Hz.

Regarding this bit that you posted, Hano:
"I have been reading this, and I think the main thought of Dot is right. Being a kind person doesn't necesarely makes one a good website owner."

That's true, but being a kind person has its own rewards.

I'm sorry for you that you're disappointed in the ownership of the VS-Planet. Everybody involved here does the best they can under the circumstances. For some, our best is "not good enough". For others, it is.

love.
Jack

Jack, I for one, have not expressed disappointment in the owners of the Planet. Some things, technical, just needed to be fixed. I have praised you guys in several threads.

My post about considering the possibility of turning over the Planet to another party began, "If you guys can't handle it..." That's IF.

Please don't throw the baby out w/ the bath water, Jack. I appreciate A LOT of things about this place. And I feel folks here should also be able to speak up when something isn't hunky dory without you guys feeling you're not appreciated on a lot of other levels.

Fact is, there have been some major, legitimate complaints from a lot of people, for a long time, regarding some things, that as owners of the Planet, you guys needed to address.

Well, it does seem to have been handled quite well - and w/ that, you guys are handling this.

The best thing about this thread is that it got some issues out in the open that hitherto had kinda' gotten swept under the rug and avoided and for that, everyone here deserves some credit.

Hats off to the Planet.

IRONICAL ADDENDUM:

Remember last night --or whenever it was-- I used that analogy of giving somebody a Mercedes-Benz? Well, today, I actually gave somebody a Mercedes-Benz! Unlike the analogy, this Mercedes isn't new: it's a 1989 turbo-diesel, though, in great condition. I was at a friend's house and when she told me how much she loved my Mercedes, I just up and gave it to her. Seemed like the right thing to do at the time.

1love,
Jack

NOTE TO SELF: WHEN MAKING ANALOGIES IN FUTURE, BE MORE CAREFUL.

Damn right! A big pat on the back for all those involved in getting this incredible reference tool back in operating order. Even Dot deserves credit..... although his methods are a little harsh.

Well... Though technically not a 'search', the ol' planet was able to resurrect this thread from the archives.

Nice to see these long silent monikers on the screen once again.
