Hi all,
I'm a vs2000cd user and usually record acoustic instruments + e guitar/bass, but I have now bought a korg microArranger in order to help me compose song back grounds - I use auto chords as I don't play keyboards !
I want to either compose the song into the midi sequencer on the KMA or do this in Cakewalk sonar LE ver 4 [which came my midi-usb box]. Once this is done I pass the resulting backing track into the KMA and then record audio to my vs2000cd.
After connecting the KMA midi out to my midi-usb box and pressing record in cakewalk [after a day of figuring out how to get the midi channels onto separate tracks] I can now record midi drums, bass and backing tracks etc. Great.
Q: How can I extract/split the drum track instruments [eg bass drum, snare etc] onto separate midi tracks so that I can mix the drum instrument volume ?

update2
I figured out that if I :
# clone the drum track as many times as there are instruments # delete all notes from each clone except the one indicated in the track name # thus leaving me with the original muted drum track and 4 clones drum-hh, drum-snare etc
This works but I would love to know if there is either a method of recording the drums instruments to different tracks or to do the above edits in a 'automatic' or 'programmable way'
So anyone got any ideas for this midi / sonar newbee ?
Don't use MIDI much anymore, but I remember being able to copy all MIDI notes to a new track. For instance, if C1 is a kick drum, copy all C1 notes to a new MIDI track. If the snare is C2, copy all C2 notes to a new MIDI track, etc
In addition to setting the output note for each row, via the O-Note parameter, you can also set the MIDI channel and device that each row should use to play the output note.
