There seem to be a few VS8f-3 boards out there in auction land but many don't come with the Roland setup disk. If you already have an "authorized VS8f-3 board in your machine adding a second board is no problem as the first board is the "key card" and that authorizes both cards in that unit. However if you buy or move a VS8f-3 board without the setup disk or move it to an unauthorized machine you have a board that won't function until it's authorized. Just order a replacement setup disk from Roland parts dept. It'll take 4-6 weeks to arrive as they come from Japan.I think they're only like $10 plus shipping. BTW, the setup disk authorizes only the Roland plugins. Mine just arrived and now I've got 2 machines authorized. I'm wondering if no longer available plugin disks can be copied and installed on other machines?
