How long have you had a 2480 with no problems. I have had mine over 15 years trouble free. What can I expect?

I'm in the same boat as you: 14 years with no issues. But I use it very lightly, and always kept it covered.
Capacitor failure is real, but it will be hard to get a statistical answer from this forum. Many who post looking for help have had a failure. Those with no issues have no reason to post. Those who just moved on to other platforms aren't able to contribute.

No problems? Really? Wow \:o Not even a "Operation Failed" when burning CDīs ??

Bought my first 2480CD in 2003 and it has the original hard drive (80GB) still running...
Converted to DVD in 2007 . Put in a quieter fan at the same time
Changed Fader boards twice and had a few "freezes" ... thatīs all.

What to expect? Well, faders eventually goes bad, capacitors too, witch can cause
"crackling" and popping sounds. Backup battery dies ( date and clock ) witch
can cause some issues and strange behavior according to some here at the forum.
And of course, hard drives dies ..... Make backups of projects !

Cheers !

Bought a used second 2480 for my getaway home and will be interested on how long it will last. I always cover my unit. Am dismayed to read all the problems people have had. If I should have an issue, makes me wonder if I should bit the bullet and move to a software system for my computer. I really like the 2480 even though it is slow.

I have two VS2480HD , one of them work 17 years without problem. Another one 15 years needs little bit service . Needs to change some capacitors on mother board. My friend has a very intensely 14 year old used and poorly maintained VS2480HD, brought me in for repair, it will have a lot of work to do as I need to replace the capacitors, faders and two inputs in the mixer not working, I will have to replace the transistors in the analog part. Hard drive IBM is still working.

My 1680 from '97 or '98 is still working perfectly...couple HD replacements but I've been soares any other issues. Solid platform.

(Update I remembered that a couple years ago the display faded to dark so I guess there was one problem- minor issue once I got it to our Roland tech here)
