Well, but it's Nile Rodgers' VS-840.
I wonder if he was a member here? Or if he still has a Zip drive?
Also, good prices on those Gibsons and those Rics. The Fenders are a little out of control though.

It would be interesting if it turns out that he was a member here.
As far as if he still has or uses ZIP drives? It is quite possible. He did win three Grammy Awards in 2014 for his work on their album "Random Access Memories", and it would be interesting if it was inspired by "random access" "memory/disk type" accessibility, vs. older-style tape.

I just saw that his 5th Roland TR-909 went up for sale a few years ago. At one point, the highest bid was &10,000, but I do not know what it sold for yet.
It seems to have inspired at least one song.
"The original Roland TR-909, roughly valued at £1,500 is easily worth the current leading bid of £10,000 given the condition, iconic presets, and let’s not forget the power it must behold having once belonged to the famous electronic duo! Transformative to say the least — the part-analog, part sample-based Roland TR-909 was one of the first drum machines to implement MIDI capabilities, a next level music production tool."

Perhaps because the VS-840 and TR-909 just might be more useful, and perhaps sound better than the leather?
I came extremely close to acquiring a 1973 Porsche 911S in black, which may be the same or at least extremely close to the 930, in 1995 or so, from a colleague for $5000, very shortly after he spent $3000 for an engine overhaul. It was a very amazing car with the large tachometer being the focal point of the dashboard, for reasons that he explained to me. It required a 10-minute warm-up in the winter, and had a special lever near the e-brake to slightly depress the accelerator pedal for unattended warmup. It was air-cooled, and required 13 quarts of engine oil, and the engine had to warmup to provide proper seals.
Although the car from the outside appeared to be extremely attractive and "cool looking", on the inside it was really pretty bare and "down to business" for racing. The car was somewhat crushed outside a restaurant one night when a few of us got together to dine. He parked it "for the sake of safety", near a dumpster in the rear of a parking lot, and when it got dark out, it was nearly impossible to see the car, and apparently someone in what must have been a large vehicle backed into it. Or possibly the dumpster was due for an emptying and a truck pulled up. No one left a note. Anyway...
Currently the 911 Turbo, starts at a base price of $174,300 !!!

Not too sure about that, John!

Yeah, they weren't designed for comfort. Minimalistic and relatively lightweight.

I am glad that you had fun reading the post. I was curious, and it did a brief search, for Porsche 930 oil capacity. Yeh, as you said, even 8-quarts were "a pain", that is what my Cadillac STS required, same as your car.
It seems 12 quarts is required for some years of the 930. It starts to get expensive, but I doubt that his why he is selling his 930!
Everything you need in a money-saving package deal! Includes 12 quarts of motul classic 20w50 high zinc oil, mahle filter and all seals necessary. Also includes funnel for easy pouring! Price: $132

I think this is the same one that used to sell for $300-$400 at E.U Wurlitzer when I saw one in person at a private Roland demo show there. I always thought that "brace" or "arm" was very unique. There may have been a different model without as many knobs and switches, and

It seems that Jimmy Page was also a fan of this guitar. It is too bad that the auction only provides generally available stock images, and not images of the actual item in the auction.
I remember asking the salesman about the Roland GR-707, and he stated that for all intents and purposes, it was "just a regular electric guitar", as I was trying to learn about the MIDI guitar products on the market at the time. He stated that there was really "nothing special" about the guitar, and any electric guitar would work with their MIDI interfaces at the time, and Roland just wished to provide a unique offering to match their products. I have really never seen any guitar like it.
