I'm not familiar with his music. At my age, I've lost interest in pop radio. He was interviewed on a tv show lately. I thought he seemed like a motivated young person who is taking advantage of opportunities.
I don't think anyone needs to "deny" someone is a douchebag. What makes you think that he is...whatever a douchebag is to you?
Perfectly solid pop record. Certainly better than most of the top ten. All I know about him is he was in One Direction and he's dated Olivia Wilde. What has earned the Al Ire of the Week?

Well, calling someone a douchebag is a sexist statement.
I do think Styles is something of a creep. He is always tryign to play this woman-face game, wearing makeup, flamboyant "feminine" outfits like bright pink silk pants, open chest showing butterfly tattoo, pink feathered boa coats, trying too hard to convince people that he is androgenous, while failing to understand that real adrogyny comes from the inside, not from studied costuming. Mick Jagger, for example, had an unstudied androgyny.
When white people wear blackface, it is now universally accepted that that is demeaning and racist. Yet when men put on women-face, that is somehow considered cool and edgy, even though it also is sexist, demeaning and humiliating.
Styles hails from the porn generation, so he is fine with the vilest of sexism.
I’m going to seriously challenge the comparison to blackface. Why do women wear makeup and pink pants-what you call “woman face” in an ironic silly level of sexism? Societal norms. Why is a black person’s skin black? Yeah, that’s a horrible horribly misguided not thought out equation.
As to “douchebag” being sexist? Sure. See above where i was trying to find out what that even means to AL. In terms of discussion, I wanted to know what fhat even meant to him.

I mean I don't pay any attention to him--pop singer who is bland and not terrible...dating Olivia Wilde #jealous ...other than that I know nothing about the guy. I'm saying it's origins are sexist. It's maybe one of the reasons I never really understood it. Overly sensitive to words people might be offended. I honestly have no idea what you mean when you call Styles "a douchebag". Literally the first time I've ever heard "spineless" as a synonym. So, again--to steer this back to your actual thoughts on your OP--what did he do/say that makes you think he's "spineless"?
