The 2480 is stuck on a CD writing (DAO) window and won't let me get out of it by either hitting cancel, ok or any other button sequence I know of. I don't want to just turn off the machine becue i am not sure that the recording has gone thru the proper save mode. Is there anything elese I cn do to get it out of this mode besides taking the chance of losing the entire recording?

Before even getting to the "burn disc at once" option you're asked to "store" project at least once if I remember right, so there's no risk to loose your project ..... But there might be other problems like "wrong" type of CD brand. Did you record the master track in CDR mode ?
Cheers !

Fortunately it self saved. I took the chance, turned it off and the project still exists. I took another plextor drive I have and hooked it up to the 2480 and am setting a CD in for burning. The internal CD drive may be nearing it's demise.

The external plextor CD drive is now doing the job the internal CD drive used to do. Sigh.....

So you got it sorted out , sort of ...
If the internal CD drive is "fading away", swap it for a DVD drive ... Much more storage and no hassle with multiple CD backups anymore ( It still burns and read CD's .... ) Cheers !

Many years since I swapped my CD to DVD, but if I remember right it was a Panasonic UJ 870 Might find one on "Fleabay", but make sure it is set to Master ....
VS-2480 OS 2.504 required (?) Someone else here that can chime in and confirm my faded "memory" ???
Cheers !
Edit : Found the guy I bought it from . He's still active on Fleabay

Exactly right, Cat. IIRC, the setting to Master isn't an end user thing. I bought years ago from an eBay seller "Virtanen13" IIRC. He ensures the Master setting.
And the 2480 firmware must be the latest version.

Ater the internal CD burner would not burn a CD, cutting off halfway thru the process, I hooked up another Plextor burner that burned CDs for a day and then stopped working. Could it be a glitch inside the 2480 causing this?

Same CD brand ? Same song from Mastering Room, or another ? Mastered with CDR- mode ?
I sometimes have the same problem and tries another CD brand, and it works .... Sometimes it works after just turning the CDR- mode off in Mastering Room before closing, and then start Write CD from the "drop down" menu ....
I don't think anyone knows why this happens now and then, I guess it's nature of the finicky VS-creature ....
Better get used to loose a few CD's in the process ... I have ....
Cheers !

Have you considered moving to SCSI2SD? Files can be transferred to SD card, then imported to computer via VSWE. You can even record directly to the SD card.
