Pedal steel has to be one of the hardest instruments in the world to play in my opinion. Besides that fact that it's fretless, there are all these pedals and knee levers that alter the pitch (up and down) of various strings. And then add in a volume pedal to control dynamics and you have you have one extremely difficult beast.
