I know there are questions/comments/concerns about the new look and feel of the board.

Remember, we hadn't finished all the testing we wanted to do before we were forced to have to migrate to this version.

If you have comments, please post them here.

I will do my best to review them and see if things can be changed, but please remember that I've been working on getting us back up and running for the last 2 days.

So if I don't answer right away, just know that I will... \:\)

I agree that it's awfully busy. Is there any way to take all the stuff on the right-hand side and move it to the bottom?

Looks a lot like CollabNation, doesn't it?

I've still got to play around with the preferences to learn what I can do with it on my end.

There's no way to move those right-hand side things to the bottom. At least not without some intense customization.

New board seems very good but just to let you know that the links from the VSPlanet.com home page to 'Forums' and 'message boards' are broken.

best wishes

Could we get the "rolleyes" icon back?
Maybe a choice or 2 on Preferences page on color/contrast/font for the peeps who have a hard time w/ the gray?

maybe the fonts should be just a tad larger.

it does not bother me but i can see where the "old timers" might have problems...

Let me check the rolleyes. I thought we had it.

I'll be enabling another 'style' soon, and you'll be able to set that one in your profile. But, it's pretty generic, and won't look like the Planet you are used to. ;\)

The set of icons (I know - straight to the really important stuff \:D ) isn't showing on my "Full Reply Form". I'll try the ol' code:  \:D

Hmm. Is it the animated ones that aren't supported now?

BTW, I'm not getting any response on the "Shout" button… using Firebox 2.0.0.11 on Mac 10.4.11.

I'll check it on XP… oh, wait! I have popups disabled. Is it a popup?

You're right. I just enabled popups for vsplanet and relaunched the browser. Still no shout. I'll launch XP and give it a shot (shout?)

Hook-THANK YOU for spending all of that time upgrading things.

On the list of threads, is there any way to make the thread title font larger and the thread started by font smaller?. Makes it hard to scan the way it is now.

There is an option in your profile (in 'My Preferences') to 'turn off' the right-hand column. That will eliminate the shoutbox and the other stuff in the right-hand column.

So, if you don't want to see that stuff, you can turn it off. If you do want to see it, then the only option is to see it on the right.

Tim, you mean when you view all the threads in a forum? On XP, it's showing just like (I think) you are suggesting...are you running on a Mac?

Hook, yep there is a difference in the font sizes, but I guess I'm suggesting make the hread titles' font even larger and the "by" font a tad smaller.

I could get used to it either way, but it would make it easier to scan the thread titles.

I like the idea of having a "control panel" so that members can customize there VSPlanet experience. For instance, different basic motifs to pick from would be nice. The individual preferences could be stored with the members id profile.

Or maybe just make the color of the "by" font where it blends into the background a little more.

I suppose I could get used to it--but the colors are just awful on my pc at work. The posts have kind of a dark burnt brown background and the sides of the posts are black. the links are kind of a washed-out flourescent blue and the buttons have purple backgrounds.

I appreciate your hard work too, Hook, but agree with amiller on this one: is there any way to allow individual user display preference customization?

I agree with this and I believe this is the key to why the place looks so "busy" and not friendly to the eyes. A whole bunch of font all over the place that's almost the same size and color. Not enough contrast.

Other than that, "Congrats" Hook for getting it back up! \:\)

Woo hoo! I got rid of that annoying stuff on the right! That helps on my eyes to make the place "not so busy." Now if we can get the fonts bigger, that would really help on these old eyes too.

Click on 'My Stuff' at the top, then 'My Preferences'.

I've added some basic variations to the list of 'styles', which you can see (within your preferences) in the 'Your preferred stylesheet' option:

2 different 'styles' - Dark background (with light text) or Light background (with dark text)

2 different font sizes (for most of the main text) - Regular font (10pt for most of the main text) or Larger font (12pt).

So, the default is the Dark-RegularFont (dark background, light text, regular (10pt) font).
