In the old site, the fonts were hard coded using HTML font tags. In the new site, it's all driven by Cascading Style Sheets (css). Apparently, Internet Explorer doesn't allow text size changes when the css fonts are specified in pixels.
Firefox (and maybe others) DO allow you to change the text size when css fonts are specified in pixels.
Short of changing the infrastructure of how this new site works, I'm not sure I can help you with this. Sorry...
EDIT: It appears that the CRTL + MouseWheel works in IE7 and Firefox. Thanks Karl!

Hey, Hook, when I go to "preview" any message, the preview pane only shows the inserted code for links and images, not the displayed links or images. To see if I made any mistakes, I must post the entry, then edit it if it's incorrect.
Didn't the preview function used to display the message as it was intended to be displayed, with live links and actual images?
FWIW, the text size does indeed change on my PC when I hold down CRTL and adjust the mouse wheel.

I noticed that as well. I had to dig around in the code a couple days ago to figure out how to make the default 'markup' be HTML compliant. But, I noticed that the preview didn't show it.
There's a new release of the code coming out soon. I'll see if they've changed that. If not, please remind me in a couple weeks and I'll try and dig back into the code and see if I can fix that.

Yeah, I noticed that too. The good thing is we can go ahead and post the message and if the code is incorrect, we can just edit it then and not leave an "edit stamp" on it.

Yeah!!! I installed firefox and ctrl/mousewheel now works to increase font size...
I can read again without being 3 inches from the screen...

Hi Hook,
Great job getting the Planet back up so quickly! I'm using the dark-large and it seems much easier on my old eyes. I like it!
I was wondering if there is a way to make the shout box 'float'.

If you click on the thread title, it should place you at the first reply that is 'unread' by you.

There is a new maintenance release of the code coming fairly soon...perhaps that will fix some of these issues.
In the meantime, I'd suggest that every so often you click the 'Mark all read' link, which can be found at the bottom of every page (towards the lower-left hand corner). That will reset all the cookies that track which forums/topics/posts you haven't yet read.

No, not that I'm aware of. You have to click the 'Switch to Full Reply Screen' to get the full reply screen. That's how the old code worked as well.

The code tries to keep track of what posts you've already read.
Every so often, you should click the 'Mark all read' link at the bottom. That will reset the cookies that keep track of what you've read and what you haven't.
Also, at the bottom-left of every post (in the area below the username), you'll see a link 'Top'. Click that to go to the top of the page.

Huh...that's pretty strange. I have no idea, to be honest. I surf using both IE7 and FireFox, and I've never seen that behavior here or anywhere else.
