Yep, thought that might have been it.

I like Pro Tools but after extensive use of Reaper and Podium I sold my Digi 03. Both function so much better it makes me wonder how Pro Tools gets away with it?

SAW was my first software after the 2480. As functional as SAW is it is also confusing and too expensive.....good night to that one too!

Why did you get rid of ProTools? Looks like you went to Cubase.

Ive always had Protools and Cubase here. I felt I needed to concentrate on ONE DAW here. Besides, things that are highly irritating to me with LE such as: No ADC, Track Limits, Crappy sounding I/O boxes IMO. This MR816X I have here now sounds WAY better IMO. I have Reaper as a backup but I dont use it yet

So, before I invest more with ProTools, is Cubase easier to work with, especially connecting to my 1680? Not to mention the sound...

I really want a nice software recording application that can easily recognize and work with my Roland VS1680...As I'm new to all this and want to learn from those who have been where I'm trying to go...

When Im talking sound quality I mean the I/O box, NOT the software

They all pretty much do the same thing these days.

Ive had Protools LE 8, Logic 8, Cubase, Reaper, VS2480.

Are you on Mac or PC? Reaper is great on the PC and CHEAP!!!

I'm a PC user (windows 7)
I have ProTools 8 M-Powered (which is great), but having problems connecting the VS1680 using hte MIDI connections. I cannot see it in ProTools setup I/O or Hardware as I'm using an M-Audio Fast Track Pro as the audio interface. I used the configuration you supplied for VS slave or Master, but still no connection.
