damn this song is really scarry now. the white album is very scarry in tone in so many ways..martha dear is so wings sounding... and george is so distant in everything. and ringo is doing more clowning and tasty touches like the brushes glass onion i think..and John is soooo great voice on this album its like he learned to record his voice so wonderfully n this album. so tired eveerything really.

been teaching it this year and dont quiet have the true feel for it yet. close but not the nice flick rythm bit. what was the guitar he recorded with?/

If you have access to the video anthology, there is a tiny snippet of a moment where Paul is playing the guitar part to Blackbird, sitting on a bench during an interview (if memory serves).... This is where I discovered the trick to making the rhythmic feel of the picking pattern work the way he plays it.

That may possibly also be the guitar he used on the recording.

McCartney had Epiphone Texan from about 1965 (used it for Yesterday)
and had Martin D-28 (or was it D-18) from about 1968 or so.
