This might be useful for someone.
Doing video-demos for Bands requires video-audio synch and I have come across a brilliant little device. Its simply a cable with a LANC plug one end that plugs in the camcorder and the other end is a MIDI plug that plugs in the MIDI-IN socket of your hard disc recorder / computer / whatever.
The clever bit is that within the MIDI plug is a circuit board and microprocessor that converts the SMPTE time code emiitted by the camcorder to MIDI timecode.
This is really neat.
Cost £75.
See http://www.avitresearch.co.uk
I ordered one and it arrived three days later.
Now I can control my VSR880 hard disc recorder as slave with the camcorder as Master. The processor detects the type of SMPTE automatically.
You will need to set the SMPTE timecode of the slave device to match the camcorder, so make sure your device has the appropriate options.
Goodbye to clapperboards and aligning audio in post!!!!
