I have my vs-1880 hooked up to all sorts of stuff in power supply and audio connection.

but when I turn on my laptop not even connected by audio , it makes a lot of noise and I cant record to it this way duh

when I let the laptop off its power supply even hooked up to my card and vs , I get no noise.

how can I fix this ?

That's because your laptop's power supply isn't filtered properly. This is often the case when you buy a replacement supply not made by the manufacturer, unfortunately. It could also be that your manufacturer's supply has gone bad and is not filtering properly.

In any event, replacing it with a manufacturer's power supply should all but eliminate the noise. You might actually be able to hear some sort of noise anyway, if you turn up the volume, but it's an acceptable noise level for average playback levels...... maybe not for recording, but I haven't had noise issues myself, using a proper power supply while recording from my RME pcmcia card and Digimax preamp setup.
