Hi everyone!
this combination SI24 and DIF-AT isn't working.
I want to use the SI-24 as an 8 Channel AD and DA Converter, pluged via R-BUS to the DIF-AT (i know it's 20bit...) and then via ADAT optical to my Interface.
How is it with the clocking? the SI must me Slave or?
Does anyone have some Service Manuals about this stuff?
anyone some ideas?

thx for your help - and sorry about my english ;\)
all the best,
johannes

Greetings, Johannes,

Have you looked at the Roland website?

SI-24 manuals:

http://www.rolandus.com/support/by_product/si-24/owners_manuals/

DIF-AT:

http://www.rolandus.com/support/by_product/dif-at/owners_manuals/

I use the SI-24 as control surface for REAPER with a Mac running OSX 10.4.11 and a V-Fire. I don't know whether the 24 works without a computer to route things-- IIRC, it won't function as a free standing unit. The -24 was originally designed to add inputs to the VS-2400 via RBUS.

I know nothing about the DIF-AT. I've nothing pressing this afternoon, so will do some reading.

hi dk!
Yes, I've allready read the manuals.
What I'm looking for, are the Service Manuals. Normaly there is the electronical circuit in it, to see more in detail how this machine is working. How the Clocking is done, etc..

Yes, I've an VS-2400 and the SI-24 works (only the Inputs...)
but I want to connect it to my MOTU Traveller via ADAT.
And this isnt working with the DIF-AT I've here...

Faders are working via MIDI with my DAW, but i want to use the SI-24 as an 8 Channel ADC and DAC in 48kHz and 24 Bit.

Hope to get some Information.
thx,
johannes

Johannes:

I've not seen Service Notes for the SI-24. Roland is somewhat stingy about releasing service info for legacy(read 'unsupported') units, so we'll need to wait for a renegade with Roland access to let one go. Same deal for the VS-2000CD. Allegedly, Roland Australia will sell Service Notes to end users, but I can't substantiate this.

The only way I've found to get everything working is via an older Mac running OS X 10.4.11 and a Presonus V-Fire. Ins/Outs, faders, pans, etc., all work in REAPER using a custom keymap. Without a proper R-Bus connection, the IN/OUT doesn't work at all.

I know you're interested in the DIF-AT and not the V-Fire, but look over the posts by "Alvaro"-- he has the V-Fire and a 2480 working in OS X 10.11.xx(El Capitan)-- but I think he has only the In/Out working-- no actual 'surface' functions. The 2480 and SI-24 use the same control overlay, so what he's found may give you some insight. There is a 2480 Control Surface Guide available. If you can't locate it, PM me for a copy. Look for the R-Bus Guide as well. Pm for a copy if you can't find that either.

FYI, the SI-24 phantom power is only 15V, so some condenser mics may not perform as anticipated.

Regards,

dk
