Hello,

I'm sorry if this topic has been discussed before, I did scan the posts but didn't see this specifically.

I'd like to change the zip drive in a VS840 from a 100 mb to 250 mb and I'm just curious if any 250 zip drive will work? Is there anything specific I need to look for? It appears the install is pretty straight forward. Thank you.

I don't know your situation but I would avoid depending on Zip cartridges. I have found that with continued use, they will fail on you, usually when you are well into the project. The fragmented data cannot be restored or recovered. 100 MB is unusable and 250 MB is still absurd in 2017.

I do believe you can upgrade to a 250 MB Zip drive but I would advise you to not aspire to more than sketches on the very obsolete VS-840 and to use it as a mixer and record through it instead of to it. Take the digital output and record in Wav.

It needs to be a ATAPI Zip drive and you also need to make sure you have appropriate vs840 operating system update that supports the 250mb Zip drive....the early OS only supported the 100mb Zip drives if I remember correctly. You will need the VS840EX version of the software.

I couldn't tell you offhand which OS version supports the 250mb zip other than it needs to be EX.
