I have a vs-1880 with effects cards installed. I'm trying to get a setting for drums that let me gate out noise and make acoustic drums sound more electronic as possible. I forget but I think used the comp/limiter or which one that had noise gate . then maybe a filter of some sort. I erased a template I had and now am having trouble sorting through all the possible combinations of effects on the cards. I only have the 4 and I guess could use them with stereo left/right. any suggestions to get drums sounding cleaner ?

A96 has comp and noise gate, which might be worth it. The lack of channel FX is my main reason for leaving the 1x80, but...

Try to insertR insertL the FXs on single tracks.
Don't couple the FXs in the patch.
Use channel EQs.

I always start with BD then snare top/bottom toms and then overheads. This (3 toms) will use up all your FX. So I'd store that as a scene and try to mute the toms in order to get bass and guitar compression matching the drums. Store that in another scene, switch back to the drum mix scene and print the compressor (probably NOT the EQ) to copies of the drum tracks. I assume you get the idea... It may get a lot more difficult once you decide to use mix automation on the drums (which I would avoid therefore!)...
