Hi, Does anyone in here use a Digidesign 002 or 003? One is for sale in my local craiglsist for $200. I'm thinking it may be an easy way to ADAT to my laptop thru firewire the output from my VS2480.
MOTU 828. Plenty of Maudio units--I like the MOTU because it has STRIAGHT line inputs...there's nearly no interfaces WITHOUT ADAT are there? I mean NOW, they make little 2x2 kind of things--but, the 828 was like THE archtype for 20 years of home studio boxes. Everything has ADAT because for 25cent extra manufacturing, they could claim it had 16 more IO than it actually had.
That said...for the use case--export the WAV files, man. I didn't remember than the 2480 could even DO ADAT....maybe with some add on box? Certainly couldn't in it's stock config.
Thanks Popmann. This is great info. I have been researching the many devices that can fill me needs. I have an old windonw xp sp3 64bit desktop that I never take online. I just use it to run old programs.
I am looking on ebay at: MOtu 896 mk3 Motu 828 mk3 RME multiface 2 with PCI card
I am trying to get the least expensive one through auction . Not trying to spend over $200.
This week I purchased a frontier design group Wavecenter PCI card. It has an Adat port. $40. I am waiting for it to come in the mail.
All of this just to transfer WAV files easily. I have the RBUS to adat adapter that BEAR created.
This way I can record into Sonar LE 8 tracks at a time I hope. That will be faster than one ata time into the digital handheld device. Which is what I currently do.
I should be able to do two or three listens and that's it and the WAV files will be on a desktop and I can put the files on an sd card and give them to folks.
IF you know of other alternatives keep it coming. My thinking is that since it will be an ADAT trasfer there should be no difference to the sound at 48khz.
Seems like people got Windows XP and many interface devices stable but then the DAWs moved ahead. I am happy to keep it simple since I do all of the work in my trusty VS2480s
