I have just purcahased a used VS2400CD recorder (S/N ZQ71535). It is replacing one I've had for a few decades so I know well how to use it.

In my older unit I've not been able to get the effects in my tracks. The VS8f-3 & VS8f-2 cards were tested and are ok. Something has now prevented the effects from being accessed.
(I've uninstalled and re-installed the 3-card twice Using the Installation CD). No help. I've physically removed it and replaced it, and again uninstalled and re-installed. No help.

SO ... I bought then this second VS2400CD ... but when opening the "CD-RW Mastering", the drop-down menu that appears has no Plugin options (such as "Install - Uninstall - Backup").

WHY NOT???????

The one just purchased came with two VS8f-2 cards installed. I removed one (from the A-position), and placed the 3-card in its place. Then I inserted and completed the VS8f-3 Installation CD ... but the 'Effects View' shows that no plugin exist in the A-position).

WHY NOT???????

Anyong having knowledge causing either of these problems would be sooooo appreciated to hear what you suggest.

I hope someone there can help. Please...

I recently I erased all projects so that I could do the "Clear Drive" ... "Format Drive" ... and ... "Clear Partition" functions on all the drives.

When I then went to use the recorder, the Effect Card VS8f-3 (which was always physically in place) and was in the recorder some time ago, now wasn't present as a plug-in for the effects.

OK, I thought, the functions mentioned which I did, caused it to become uninstalled for some reason. No problem I figured, I just needed to install it again. So, I got the Roland Installation CD, and proceeded to install the VS8f-3 Plug-in ... BUT ... this time, it's saying it's a "Trial Plug-in". This never happened before!

I've been using this recorder for a few years, and when I got it, I did have to install this Plug-in, and it never before was said to be a "Trial Plug-in".

I read in the VS8f-3 workbook, that an "Update" may be what's needed. How is that to be done, if so?

I know this is an old machine, but please, might someone have an idea why this has come to be? Or, might you know somewhere or someone who has knowledge in this excellent recorder.

Anything you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

I, the above author of this topic, have since found (if I understand right) that the CD-Installation Disc ... and the VS8f-3 Effects Card are identified one-to-the-other (ie only the specific Disk can be used tp digitally install the Effects Card.

But, this seems to be conflicting with the fact that these Effect Cards are sold on Ebay (and most times without the CD Installation Disk). I've sold some myself, with no qualms received from the buyer.

I've been told that I did it! I literally wiped clean the hardrive, thus eliminating the effects that were stored in my VS2400 ... and there's no getting them back without having the VS-Effects-Bundle of Cards (selling for $1000 and up).
