You're not lacking. It's been many years since I've done the upgrades and drive swaps in the 840's, but I do remember these units are very specific in what works in them. Many CF drives did not work and the same was true for many laptop drives. The 840 had to upgraded to 2.03 I think it was before accepting those select few drives that worked. Although we did keep finding different drives that would be accepted by that operating system. Cornjerker actually has a list [posted of those that would work on the 1st page of the 1st message . It's pinned up top the message board with his name next to the 1st post on the 1st page.
