I have 18 songs recorded on the vs2000cd and haven't turned it on in years and now only one song plays and it shows 4.6 gigs of space used anyone know how I can find the missing songs?

A three minute song with 8 tracks would not be anywhere near 4.6 GB, unless you have thousands of discarded takes in the background.
Was each song a separate project?
I think your 18 songs probably still exist, although there could be some sort of hard drive (partition) failure I guess.
Going back to what 'Wish' asked about partitions...are you sure that you've checked all your partitions...IDE:0, IDE:1, etc.
Could you describe what you see on your Project screen in terms of projects within each partition and free space/partition size for each partition?

Have you listened to that one song until the end? Or looked at how long it was? Maybe there's more than one song in that project. I usually (with demo's) record more than one idea and use the markers to get to them.

At the start of every new idea I just press the marker button to place a new one at that place on the timeline. And a couple of seconds behind the last idea, to leave some room for instruments that fade out slower than what I already recorded in the song before the new idea.

captron,hook up your VS2000 using USB connection and the Wave converter and see what shows up there in the different partitions that are displayed.

they were live recordings which I stopped and started recoeding between each song and they were there 2 years ago

when I powered it up it took about a 1/2 hour before it functioned properly none of the function buttons worked at first either
