In the current version (v4.5) of VirDIS software we managed to break the previously-working feature of restoring/reading 2480/1680/880 Backup CDs from the PC's internal CD/DVD burner (the popup reports: "NO drive of CDROM type found!") - our apologies. We have corrected this now and will be releasing v4.6 soon.
Ironically, in the process of fixing this we found and reported a bug in MS's version control software - they're still working on it :).
[If you may have a new email address that we don't know about and are keenly interested in v4.6, please let us know.]

Earlier post about v4.5 not doing a RESTORE seems to be incorrect as we just tested 4.5 and brought up 2 projects off a VS-1680 backup CD ?? This originated from a customer's report - so we will do more investigating of the circumstances but for now both v4.5 and the pending v4.6 look OK for RESTORE.

More on this: It seems there MAY BE a timing issue with reading the Backup discs using v4.5 after all! Just finished a session with a customer who was getting the 'No CD-Rom drives found' error and after installing a beta of v4.6 we did a successful RESTORE of 2 projects to a concurrently running VirDIS HDD file: SCSI:3 (PC's burner) to SCSI:4 (VirDIS file). We'll keep all apprised of the release date for v4.6 but anyone interested in a 4.6 beta, please contact us - thanks!

Ronnie, wav file corruption seems to me to be more of an issue with your use of VSWE to extract the wav format from your backups/songs.
Files that contain tracks from other projects seems to point to user error, as well.
Be sure that you start an export to wav files in a clean destination folder - Name the "Export To:" destination specifically for a single song/project. In my case, I might have something like this - D:\Files Audio\Rip0000\test3 - - - - where D is my drive or partition where I keep my audio, "Files Audio" is the main folder where I store my audio files, "Rip0000" is my default backup rips location (from back when I used the ripper as an individual tool to retrieve backup cd songs) - and "test3" is the destination folder created for my specific vswe export session.
It's that last folder that's crucial - vswe will offer to and create the folder for you, if you simply put a name after the last backslash, so you don't have to pre-create the folder on your hard drive.
If you fail to create such a unique folder, then vswe and the ripper can and will overwrite any tracks with the same name found in the same destination folder. Unless you've gone to the pain of writing names for each of your VS tracks while in the Roland itself (I'm talking about each individual recorded track within a song - something like "01-01_V.T 1- 1"), then the default VS track names are being used as names of each extracted wav file.
I don't understand your comment about "non-designated trk"..... what is that and what is contained in those wav files? I've never seen or heard of the ripper, vswe, or virdis for that matter, creating files from tracks that were not designated somehow or another. Can you give an example, please?

Whenever I've gotten the "no cd drive", it's been because I either had the drive letter wrong, or I had the path wrong in my cd2roland ripper dialog (or whatever that's called where you fill in the path). Things that catch me up are stuff like having a space where there shouldn't be one, getting a drive letter wrong, or using a forward slash where it should be a backslash, or vice versa. Be sure to double-check all that.
As for tracks being exported wrongly - as in the 3 second tracks that should be 4 minutes - try exporting just a single track and then check to see if it's the right length (by only checking one virtual track box). I have had issues before where a file was zero bytes in size, when I know it should be some MB. Exporting single or two tracks at a time seemed to have resolve those particular instances.
As for having blank tracks exported in place of good track (as in the master tracks) - could it be internal corruption in the VS? I would try running drive check on each partition - Is this your VS internal HD, or a VirDIS HD? Is that scenario even possible that you can run drive check on a partition with a VirDIS virtual drive? It certainly is possible, if you're working from the VS internal HD.
I'm not sure what to suggest if all of this is happening in the VirDIS virtual drive environment. Bill might have to have a look-see at your set-up. You might try writing directly to him - either through his ebay contact, or his Planet PM.

Ronnie. You really ought to try writing to Bill more directly. Try writing to him through his ebay listing, or through the VirDIS contact. I'm not sure how often he checks the planet.
ebay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/124575567588?hash=item1d01484ee4:g:v5oAAOSwV3Nd7uIM - - choose "contact seller link - -
or - http://virdis2.com/emailalertlist.html - - I've never tried this contact form before, so I can't say how directly it goes to Bill, but my guess is it goes directly to him.
Also - if I understand your question - there's really no need to delete/uninstall and then restore VirDIS just to create new paths for the ripper and VSWE. You can create/alter those paths from VSWE - the ripper dialog comes up when you click its "extras" menu item in VSWE and the VSWE path is done from its main window in the "Export To" dialog. And sorry if I misunderstood your question, or those tools are configured differently in VirDIS than they are as a standalone tool - Best to contact Bill.
