SO embarrassed that we (OK me) didn't think of this in all these years! In the last few months a fairly new customer made this EXCELLENT suggestion to avoid the repetitive creation and then Roland formatting of VirDIS HDD files when preparing to back up ALL the partitions of a Roland IDE drive:
Create ONE VirDIS HDD file of the size of the partition (11 GBs on a 2480, 2 GBs on a 1680), crank up the Roland and execute the format. Shutdown VirDIS (without doing anything further to this HDD file) and then simply COPY and then RENAME this 'FORMATTED' HDD file - simple!
Totally avoids both the time-consuming HDD creation and Roland-formatting steps - brilliant! Who says we can't learn from our customers?
