Hey All,

Having more hard drive issues with my vs880ex. Was thinking of getting a vs1680 or 1880 to complete the songs I'm well into. I recorded these songs at 48k.

Unfortunately my vs2000cd will not load 48k songs. I have been trying to complete my batch of vs880ex songs and jump over to the vs2000cd..

Thanks!!

Most all of the older VS recorders read and write sample rates from 32k, 44.1k and 48k, including the 1680 and 1880.
But if you're having hard drive issues, the solution is going to be to get your songs off that hard drive as soon as possible - not getting a different VS.

Should you get a different VS, you can at any rate use the 880 hard drive in the new VS, as long as you stay with models that use the 2.5 inch laptop drive and can play/write 48k songs - and were produced after the 880ex model was released.

I'm not positive that the 1680 can read 880ex songs, but maybe the file structure is as similar to the original 880, or maybe even the 1680 itself, to be able to access the 880ex songs. You could only hope that is the case, unless you get confirmation from someone who has actual experience with the compatibility between the 1680 and 880ex. Could it also be a problem for the 1880? I'm not sure of whether it came before or after the 880ex.

Hope this helps a bit.

There‘s a bit about compatibility in most of the VS manuals. Tread carefully, it‘s a minefield.

But the problem here is (most likely) the drive, and sticking it into another VS won‘t fix that.

Thanks for the responses guys. i'm pretty meticulous about saving songs to data disc in case this happens! I ordered a new CF Card Reader and 4GB SD Card to hopefully resolve the problem.

Wish me luck, I am so not handy!!
