Hi Everyone,
Just want to thank you all for your contributions: I've just upgraded to a VS2000 after using a VS1680 for 20+ years and someone suggested I join VSPlanet. I'm glad I did - I've learned a lot from your posts already and no doubt will be dipping in again as I get to grips with the 'new' machine.

Welcome, Phil.

The 2000 is a fab machine, Having been in the Roland family for those many years, you’re gonna do real well with your new toy.

Congrats!

Well, I did not contribute a lot yet. (But it will be more. I'm on this forum since 2020.)
But welcome here from me anyway.

I've got a Roland VS-2000cd for free in april 2020 from a mate.
I did a few gigs with him for free. And he likes me a lot I guess. So at the end of a gig I did with him talking about multi trackers he said: 'Well this one's for sale. I have got a couple of VS-2480's. And not really using this one any more.' (the VS-2000 we did the gig with). He said for you 100 euro less. His original asking price was € 300,-

But then he walked to his wife, said a couple of things and
came walking back. Then he said: 'I'll bring it to your house after were done.' I said: 'Great, I'll pay for it as soon as possible.' Then he said: 'No, I'll give it to you for free.' I couldn't believe my ears. So now I own it. After thanking him of course. \:D

And with a band, which I played in back in the 90's, I learned working on a Roland VS-1680. With a 1-speed cd-writer on SCSI (That cd thing was really sloooooooww btw.....)

But seeing everything on the VS-2000cd, I was able to record in minutes. The routing part was most important for starting recording... On the right tracks. ;\) But now everything is on a big screen and a mouse attached to the VS-2000. And even USB although that's real minimal. I still need the manual every now and then, but that's ok. \:\)

Have fun making some great music on yours.

...FYI - you can buy a PS2 “Y” splitter and use a keyboard as well...I don’t think it mentions that in the manual 👍
