Can a VS 2000CD be used as an audio interface for a computer DAW like PreSonus Studio One? I have recently purchased Studio One but have had my trusty VS since 2004. Since it has USB 2.0, I was wondering if I can save the cost of an interface and use it as my mixer and "front end" for recording into Studio One. Aside from that it would seem that it might be possible to transfer files already recorded on the VS into Studio One for further processing. Brand new to the computer DAW universe. Could use some schooling....

USB port isn't a sound port on the VS. You could use the monitor out on the VS and plug it into the mic input on your computer. That should work. But first make sure the volume is all the way down and just gradually bring it up as music is playing, so you will get the right levels without blowing your mic input on your computer.

Remember that the Scarlett Focusrite is only about a hundred dollars and works just fine as an interface, but only 2 inputs for their cheapest interface.

Download from rolandus.com

Yes, you can export tracks as WAV or AIFF to your computer via the USB. It requires an application, VS Wave Converter, also downloadable from rolandus.com
