Basic question: If I switch from the rackmount VSR-880 to the desktop VS-890, will I be losing anything significant? Is the workflow roughly the same, or as I imagine, easier due to the physical controls?
Edit: to clarify, I already know about the basic differences (effects, inputs/outputs, knobs) but am more curious about workflow, reliability, and random quirks that I might have missed when comparing the spec sheets.
For context, I've been scaling down my recording studio and selling a lot of stuff. I noticed that the price for the rackmount VSR-880 has gone up quite a bit since I bought it, while the 890 remains pretty cheap. Since I'm moving away from rackmount setup and towards desktop production anyway (with synthesizers and sequencers), I figured this could be an opportunity to switch recorders and make a good $100 back in my wallet.
Stupid idea? What do you think?
