I have two VSR-880s that I just recently obtained two DIF-ATs for and was hoping to figure out how to integrate them into the rest of my studio setup.
The DIF-ATs work but for some reason I have to unplug/plug the RBUS cables initially for the single ADAT light to appear (in my experience that's the only scenario where sync occurs and I'm able to pull all 8 tracks thru separately/digitally.
Has anyone else run into this? I'm using both machines with an RME Digiface USB. Once the sync is achieved in both DIF-ATs the VSRs send and receive signal just fine (until I turn them off and then have to start all over, unplugging and plugging the RBUS cables back in or switching them out).
The other issue is trying to get both VSRs to sync tightly together when playing/recording. I used to use midi cables which worked fine if you were tracking in and out of the rear RCA analog connections.
I have been so far unable to find any instructions that explain how to properly set up the cabling/internal settings to sync multiple VSRs using DIF-ATs/ADAT while sending 16 tracks in or out digitally.
Is this even possible to do?
Appreciate any thoughts or suggestions! I know it's old gear so trying to get it to play nice with new gear may be more trouble than it's worth (even though they supposedly speak the same language.
