Greetings!

The VS2000 shipped with a 40gb internal drive. What is the largest drive capacity recognized by this machine?

The 2480 will recognize 120gb officially, and some report success with 160. As the 2000 is a later machine, perhaps the 120 upper limit applies.

Any insight appreciated.

Like all VS‘s, the 2000 uses partitions. The upper limit is therefore determined, not so much by the capacity of the drive, as it is by the maximum number of partitions. The Owner‘s Manual isn‘t entirely clear on this point (although four is mentioned as a maximum for some features); I‘d suggest just trying it out.

You may not even need a new drive to do this: just select a small partition size, and see how many partitions the system allows you to create.

Well it appears that I've answered my own question. While looking through my collection of drives, I found a 120gb unit labeled "VS2000CD"-- in my own writing. It works just fine when set to 10g partitions.
