This is from my compiled list of VS-compatible optical drives:
Internal on the VS-2000CD, -2400CD and -2480CD
Note that an internal optical drive must have firmware set to MASTER. AFAIK, this must be set by the vendor; I know of no way for the end user to accomplish this.

Arjan van gog on VSP, used a UJ-875 BXM Master DVD Burner and it worked.
ONLY THE 2480CD/DVD MODELS CAN USE THE DVD FOR BURNING AS THERE WERE SYSTEM UPDATES TO ADD THE
DVD CAPABILITY.
