I need some advice.
So, before I bought my VS2480, I recorded on a VS2400. I want to sell it, but I have many projects, backed up, and I'd like to convert "all" these tracks to .WAV files.
Is there a program that I can load into my PC, insert the 2400 backup CD and have it convert everything to >WAV?
Coverting every individual track from my 2400 would take a loooong time.
If ya'all know of something, please let me know.
Thanks

I looked into VSWE and read the instructions. It sounds like you have to pull the hard drive from the Roland and go through lots of steps. It may be easier just to convert one track at a time.
I was hoping there was some software that did the job simply.

I believe that the backup CD's made by your VS-2400 won't translate to the VS-2480
cause they are different machines with different OS.
So if you somehowe manage to get waw-files out of them CD's, it will only be the "raw audio" tracks in digital form, so you have to remix, EQ , and set FX from scratch on every song.

So a faster and "easier" way is to go analog out from your VS-2400, 8 channels at once with "Direct Out" on the backside ....
( If analog is not a "no no" for you ) and record 8 channels at once on your VS-2480.

But turn off all EQ on the 2400 before transfer .... Or is the "Direct Out" pre EQ ???
I don't remember ....

Then remix your old songs with "fresh" ears and 4 FX-cards in your new 2480

Cheers !

Both have RBUS connectors, so might go that route, and keep everything digital.

It’s whatever you want it to be. That’s how routing works.

Anyway, what is the goal, here? The 2400 can export projects to 2480 format. Check page 105 of the Owner’s Manual.

gyorpb,
Thanks. I was looking at my 2480 manual and it didn't mention the 2400. Yes the 2400 manual says I can use the 2480 as a backup destination.
My purpose was just not to loose the tracks from my 2400 projects.
So, I'm good.
Thanks everybody.
Ron

it is totally possible to rip 2400 or 2480 or 1680 or 1880 or 880 or 840 cds to wav files using VSWE

You use the CD2ROLAND portion, which strips the CD data into a roland project, then you convert that projects tracks to wav

All inside VSWE

Or you can run CD2ROLAND as its own program first.
