Hi all.
A friend of mine just gave me his mint shape Boss BR1180CD unit. Very nice Machine , lots of fun. I also have my trusty VS1680 which I have had for quite a while now.
Has anyone ever tried or had any luck with joining these two units together to multitrack at the same time ? Record , playback ext. I am guessing that these two units will probably not talk to each other via cable but I figured I would ask just in case. Thanks for any info. Just an FYI, I have not tried anything with them yet but I figured if anyone had , chances are they would be on this site.

Cheers.

Looks like it has midi I/o as well as optical/digital (in and out?). Regardless, you should read up on how to sync two 1680s (or 880s, etc) together via midi time code (MTC)... find that in your 1680 manual for sure, if not others.

Given the right connections and setup, you should be able to sync them both for recording and playback, as well as using one set of monitors for both machines, as described in the vs manual. You could always just send the analog outputs of both machines to a pair of stereo inputs on a separate monitor amp if you prefer.... The Presonus Central Station, or some line mixer or small pa head with stereo outputs connected to your powered monitor speakers would presumably work without too much fuss.
