Hi Guys,

I have a VS-2000cd that's old and worn out. Drive is hinky. The big dial is failing. I am ready to throw it out but was wondering.

I don't know if I should bother but I have 2 vs8f-2 boards and a VGA board installed. Do you guys think I should bother to take them out of the unit and try and sell them on eBay or reverb?

I see the vs8f boards but not the VGA which is more scarce. I know it's an old piece of kit so I don't think the boards are worth selling, but I thought I'd ask you guys for your opinions. Thanks...

J

Hi,

I have one (and another as backup) and still use it.

I just bought a Focusrite Scarlet Octo Pre Dynamic!

I replaced my 80GB drive with an internal SSD using a small IDE to SATA adapter (I followed advice from forums and You Tube).

You can then put in a switch to disable the fan from outside (or just unplug it) - the VS2000 is completely silent!

I read on the forums that the dial top can be removed and cleaned.

As for selling - depends - do you have many VS projects?

Good luck with what ever you decide,

woof.

Part it out, give it away, or sell it for parts. There are many parts that can be salvaged, as replacement parts for the VS‘s that remain in service, are ever harder to come by.

Thanks for the replies. It's just sat in a closet for years now. I switched over to recording on my mac and I don't even do that too much anymore.

Thanks all and be well!

FWIW... Just chiming in that I also have a VS 2000, and still use it.

Love it!

I still use mine-- recorded a choral concert last Sunday. Fantastic ensemble, favorable space. The recording is excellent.

I replaced the rotary encoder maybe twelve years ago. IIRC, the part was about $10 and there were only three or four solder points.

The answer is YES, take them out and sell them on eBay or elsewhere. The video board is a hot item that usually can only be obtained by buying a complete unit. Between me and my cousin we have bought 3 VS2000 for parts.
