Since we have an extensive library recorded on the 1680, we still work "in the box" to record & mix projects. It would be a lot quicker to export songs off the 1680 into an eternal scsi hard drive. This way, the Song Copy Playable setting is used to transfer quickly, unlike the CD data burn process.
I do not have a Windows type PC for other types of backing up.

Look into SCSI2SD. I've successfully recorded eight inputs directly to the SD card on the 2480. You'll need to do a one-time config of the SCSI2SD board, but then the SD will appear as a SCSI device in your drive list. Copying songs from the internal HDD to the SD is possible and simple.

Further, the SD can be(on a proper adapter) connected to a computer then VSWE run to extract the WAV audio files.

SD cards are cheap and plentiful. It's unlimited storage for any VS having SCSI.
