In general: Am I Bring myself in hoping that SOMEWHERE there is a Roland tech than will help me with my 2000CD questions? Si, pwobabwy BSing. I have found NO/ZERO support for the VS series stuff. It used to be fantastic, back around 2001 or so. Today? Non existent. You guys are my last chance as I'm going through a major GOING BACK TO THE VS TECHNOLOGY stuff with my VS2000CD. It seems like everyone has died (within Roland). Don't even recognize the company anymore. Please advise as I would LOVE to be able to get some Roland tech support on this VS2000CD unit. Anybody. Please respond. -Furry-

The spell corrector messed it up. Should have said "Am I BSing myself".

Sadly, Roland no longer supports the VS series recorders. My 2000CD was at an authorized Roland repair facility for 14 months before I was told that no support is available.

Roland is loath to share any information. This may change(USA) with the “right to repair” legislation which was initially spawned by Deere & Co restrictions on owner(non-Deere) repair and parts. Apple was another target; this WILL extend to other industries and corporations. We bought these units; we must be able to repair them. Period.

I did browbeat Roland into sending me a copy of the VS2000 Service Notes.

DK: Drat and double drat. I was afraid of that. So I AM in hell. Thought I recognized the place. Bad thing to be in love with a discontinued line. Still, I appreciate your comeback. Thanks. -Furry-

Don‘t get yer hopes up. These things are ancient; they‘re not coming back into supported status.

You are correct in thinking that the support will not be resurrected. The intent of the law is to require service procedures, manuals and parts be made available to purchasers/users/ repair facilities.

Re 2000 service notes. I’m happy to share as given that it can’t be traced back to me. Perhaps print/rescan would anonymize the copy. Any thoughts?

Print/rescan is detrimental to quality. If you must do such a thing, print directly to PDF.
