I've been doing some MAJOR importing and love it. Even have a back up file of tracks called IMPORTS to save ANY and ALL approaches I may have taken in a project. i.e An intro in a particular style that I rejected, but was nonetheless a hot lick I may save for a different song. I love it. My question: To import from a file DOES IT HAVE TO BE IN THE SAME PARTITION? Me thinks yes, but thought I would ask. Thanks in advance for the reply. -Furry-

Hi Furry,

In Region Import (page 269 of user manual) it states:

"When you select IMPORT, the VS-2000 scans the selected drive and presents you a list of all projects that contain importable audio. Select the desired project and press F5 (OK). On the screen that appears, you can select the track you want to import, and the track in the current project on which you want to place the imported audio."

I'm not at my VS2000cd at the moment, so I'm not sure if you can select partition / drive before the project and track.

woof.

Woof: Great info, but here's the deal: REGION import doesn't exist in my menus. Only TRACK import. Let me add that the manuals description on the page you gave me sounded NO DIFFERENT than Track import. Thus, I don't think there IS such a thing as Region import, yet there it is in the manual. Obviously I'm wrong, but such is the case when you "don't know how to do something". Feel free to carve on me in your next response. Thanks for the help. -Furry-

Your right in that for some reason a project/track is selected for import even though your in the region options!

Also 20 Region Editing Operations, on page 263:

"This chapter explains the editing operations you can perform on project regions. Since region editing operations work on a chunk of time within a track, you can think of them as track editing operations—some of them do, in fact, affect an entire track.

There is no 'region import' as such - I expect because a region does not have a separate existence (apart from time markers) in the first project that you can import from - only the track!

woof.
