My bandmate, songwriting partner and best friend for more than 25 years is in the ICU on life support due to complications of sepsis and multiple organ failure after emergency surgery for diverticulitis. He is about 75 years old.
His daughter messaged me yesterday to give me the news, and I am pretty broken up. His family (wife, daughter and son) are with him. He is in and out of consciousness and responding to them. They are playing music for him, and he seems to enjoy that… Nodding his head to the beat.
Please send you beams to Bill Sandwick and his family in Northern Minnesota. Here are a couple of his songs from the album we released in the mid 80s.

I am so sad to hear this news. Beams to Bill and to his family and friends.

Aw. Sorry to hear. Whenpeople get into their 60s and 70s, the death of their contemporaries becomes more common. Would that we could end this monstrous business of death and dying.

Thanks Andy. News is not good. Bill is still on life support, and heavily medicated. I think the family is facing the decision whether to turn off the machines and let him pass.
Bill was the main songwriter, lead singer and bass player. On "Where's the Crowd" he played all the instruments. I helped out with the synthesized wind sound and some of the grunting at the end. On "Take Off Your Bra" he's playing piano and organ, and I'm playing bass.
On the cassette cover, he's the guy in the bottom point of the triangle. In the band photo he's the dark-haired guy to the left of the door. In the Halloween photos he's the one that looks like an insane Little Bo Peep. He and I liked to compete for the most over-the-top Halloween costume. I'm the belly-dancer.

Bill's daughter set up a "caring bridge" website to let friends know how he is doing without the family needing to answer dozens of calls and messages. Some encouraging news yesterday.
Quote:
Today has been the most promising day so far for Bill and for our family! It has encouraged us that Bill may continue to take take some steps forward. We continue to take things day by day and are very aware that things can suddenly change.
Bill’s white blood cell count has been decreasing over the past past few days, so we feel like treatments are currently helping his body fight infections. There are a few other improvements and things that Bill continues to work on and that we pray about.
Bill often nods “yes” in favor of listening to music. In case you are wondering, he has nodded in approval of the new Beatles song “Now and Then.”
