On the track mixer dynamics section which way is fast and which way is slow for the attack and release? I know different compressors are fast all the way to the left and some are fast to the right. thanks

I don't recall.
But you could teach yourself easily enough, by testing the settings in their extremes on some sound with sharp transients and longish decay times.... a rack tom, or a single piano mid-to-high range note for instance.

Attack and release are in ms (milliseconds) where zero is fast,
and turning "knobs" clockwise makes them slower / longer.

Setting too short times can result in "stepping"/ clipping artefacts in sound though ....
