So was just wondering if anyone knew of a better way to edit automix other then going into micro and editing each point individually. Sometimes I have many different points to edit, I may want to lower the whole track or a section by a certain amount but that is tedious. Is there a way to lower a section of a track all at once by a certain amount or am I stuck editing tons of micro edits? thanks

If you want to adjust the whole track up or down, use the "ATT" knob in left column in dynamics window. -42 to +6 dB range. Fast and simple \:\)

Adjusting a part of a track ; Cut that part out and move to another track.
Use "split" function and drag that part with mouse to the new track.
Watch the little "p" beside the mouse pointer to get the part in the right position.
Copy parameters (EQ and stuff) with "Cpy PRM" (F5) to the new track from
the track you cut out the part from. Adjust volume ....

Or just "simply" redo the automix and overwrite whole or part of it ....

Or bounce the track, with automix, to a new track, and then do minor
automix adjustments to the new track where it is needed ....

Cheers !

Sounds like you must often automate in real time, to get all those micro edit points (or write a lot of fades). If so, then writing changes at specific points instead, will really clean things up for you and make the micro editing much less tedious... I forget what Roland calls this - is it snapshot automation?

Cool sounds tougher on the front end but easier on the backend. Thanks

Had one more question maybe you guys know the answer to. I know with modern recording systems you can have each effect in a certain order like the 1176 first then the LA2A after. How would I do that with the 2480 or how do I know which is first in the chain? thanks

The 1176 and LA2A has VU meters so insert them on a channel or master out
and see what happens on one when adjusting the output of the other, then you
know witch one is "first in the chain".
I havent tested, but most logical the chain goes from left to right.
( In INSERT mode )
AUX is just "all at once" ....

( The 1176 use one 3-Card. The LA2A uses half 3-Card, so it can
be used on 2 tracks \:\) )

Cheers !
