As I remember it there was an upgrade CD included with the third party plug-in CD's that upgraded the OS to 2.504 Or maybe the OS 2.504 upgrade was for the DVD swap I made ??? Many years ago ....
Edit : There was also an OS update (and the 5 Roland Plugins) CD in the 3-Card original package .... From VS8F-3 Owners Manual : OS must be "Version 2.50 or later"
I read many years ago (I think) that OS 2.503 was very stable. And I believe that's what I was using back when I first installed my three -3 cards. Again, this was many years ago, when the -3 cards just came out.
