I have several VS-2480's that appear to need all the capacitors replaced. (They exhibited the crackle, now they don't play at all).

The re-cap looks a bit involved for me and it's not likely I'll attempt it. I'm in the process of deciding what to do with them. I was heavily into using the VS-2480 12-15 years ago and as far as I know, the units I have are in extremely good shape (except for the capacitor-issue). I know I've never had a motorized fader issue.

I'm getting the "low battery" warning on all of my units. I have spare CR-2032's, but if I'm storing a VS-2480, does it make sense to put a new battery in? Can any type of damage occur if a VS-2480 is stored without a battery? (I plan to at least remove the old batteries so there's no chance of them leaking).

Thanks,

NWW

Thanks.
Just want to make sure NOTHING stupid happens.

The units I have that need re-capping could be stored in a closet for a week, a month, a year, or 5 years.

I have two that work, maybe that's all I'll need.

Thanks again.
