Just wanted to post about my adventures transferring songs from my old, old VS-880 V-Expanded to my new, old VS-1824. I'm still a bit shocked that it worked.
I had to borrow a SCSI Zip drive and SCSI cable, and then bought 2 Zip disks from someone on Facebook (shipped for $8 total).
A few things I had to figure out that fortunately didn't take long. The terminator switch on the drive had to be ON. You have to plug in the Zip drive to the recorder your using before you turn on the recorder. With that it recognized the drive. The disks were new in wrappers and you do not need to format them (I did one and it didn't hurt, and was surprised it worked because I think it wanted to format 1000MB but these are 100MB disks).
I used the song archive feature. Select the internal drive you want to archive. After erasing songs I didn't need any more I tried to archive "All" songs instead of "1". This worked sometimes, but other times there was too much data for the two disks I had, so I had to do 1 song at a time.
Then I connected the Zip drive to the VS-1824, turned it on, and did Song Copy. The procedure for that is a little fuzzy in the manual (and they note some Function key numbers incorrectly), but it works. If you want to edit the songs you have to import them from the copy you now how on the VS-1824 (then I assume you can delete the first copy).
Now I can sell the 880 I no longer use!
