Graduating the #1 high school in America. President of band. Featured composer and performer at prestigious concerts where college music faculty snd members of the. BSO encouraged me. Met my wife there, married her 45 years later.
I did not like high school, loved college.

My biggest high school accomplishment was getting my girlfriend. She was out of my league according to everybody. Still holding on to her.
I really liked playing my songs in the talent shows. A lot of time working jobs during high school.

I was never on the chess team but I actually am the one who taught the guy who was #1 on the chess team (and valedictorian) how to play as he was my best friend for a spell there. Also my last girlfriend in highschool was the only girl on that team also.

I was in all the plays and musicals, that was fun. Played with my best friend in our school talent shows every year, including in our punk band called The Plague. We had an eponymous song and the chorus went What are all those green scales growing on my leg / Oh no I must have .... bubonic plaaaaaaaaaaague.
I got a $10 award from the Pittsford NY Democratic Party for being so active in campaigns.
My class chose me as most musical in the superlatives.
We just had our 45th reunion but I couldn't go. That was all a long, long time ago. I don't think about any of that any more. I had fun. I was a pretty good student, made out with some cute girls, played a lot of music.

My pals were all the national honor society squad but I was mostly Bs and Cs, was a goof for the most part. I never went to a reunion. This probably came off as odd because at that time I probably seemed like Most Likely To Show Up at Every Reunion.
I guess it actually did surprise folks because I found out about 10 years ago that they all thought I was dead and that info was passed around to everyone at the reunions. ha ha

We had a left-leaning intellectual (at the time secretly gay) Drama/Social Studies teacher who departed from the usual annual musical to produce the rather eclectic “Waltz of the Toreadors.” I played the leading role of General St. Pe’. The General was supposed to be fat, and I was about 6’2” and weighed in at a whopping 135 lbs, so the costume crew had to make a fat suit for me. There is one scene in which the General and his doctor both drop their pants to compare their beer-bellies. I had a pillow sewn into my undershirt and tucked into my boxers to make it look like a beer gut.
Many parents complained that “Toreados” was too high-brow. They preferred more traditional high-school fare like “Li’l Abner” and “Annie Get Your Gun.” I played in the pit orchestra for “Annie” and played three clownish roles in “Li’l Abner”… Eagle-Eye Fleagle, Speedy McRabbit and the Japanese News Commentator. I had to do quick costume/makeup changes for the green-skinned voodoo/hoodoo lawyer Fleagle and the twitchy hillbilly McRabbit character (I think Jerry Lewis played that role in the film version). The McRabbit character was also one of the principle dancers in the production numbers. The Japanese Commentator was off-stage, speaking into a mic with a horribly racist, fake Japanese accent.

Oh, you know what was probably my biggest accomplishment? As a senior in 1979, I took AP American History, AP European History, and AP German. I got two 5s and a 4. That really helped me when I got to college.
