I missed the fretboard wood on #2 when you first posted it, but I really dig that. It looks like leopardwood. Monkeypod isn't hard enough for a fretboard, and is more like koa.

Here are some pics of getting the sides glued together and prepping for the top and bottom of the uke. No bendy rods, but plenty of clothespins instead for the kerfing.

It’s starting to come together. After the body, I work on the neck, fretboard inlays, install frets, etc….

Pics of the body work with lots of clothespins.

Yeah, I am not really sure what the hell it is, but it looks pretty cool…

The latest and greatest…..top and bottom kerfing installed to the sides and I will now be able to glue the top and bottom of the uke to the sides to complete the body. Starting to work on the neck, starting with fretboard inlays. How many is twelve again?

Anyways…..it’s coming together. The latest pics at the link below.

One more than eleven.

By the way, all those clothes pegs really turn Smelly on.

I’m sure it was at some point, but the sides were pre-bent when I got the kit.

The parts…..

I was productive in class yesterday.

The top is now glued to the sides and I was able to count to twelve and install 6mm abalone inlays in the fretboard. No clothespins or bendy rods, but lots of marshmallow clamps for the body glueing.

Uke bottom will get glued on next week, and I will probably glue the fretboard to nhe neck. Fretboard needs to be radiused a little first.

Some pics here….

Cool. I quite like the look of it.

My soprano uke only has 12 frets.

The fretboard will run up to the soundhole, so a lot of the upper frets will not really be playable, unless your name is Andy.

heh heh - I can't even get my fingers at the 12th fret.

The fingerboard ends at the edge of the body on mine. The soprano has a 13" scale length. I think a tenor is 17.

Uke mock-up from a week or so ago, picking out abalone inlays.

And that fretboard will have some sort of angle or something, tbd, at the soundhole. It won’t just be flat and boring.
