(Forgive me if Wawazzat's bar has already 'been there done that'.)

For me, Norman Greenbaum's "Spirit In The Sky."

Even though the lyrics make me wanna puke. After all these years, the original recording still gives me chills, and the beat still makes me want to get up and chug chug across the floor. To this day, I've never heard a beat quite like it, with the sloppy claps and the snare slightly behind the beat, just kinda shuffling along.

Those were the early days of hearing distorted guitars on top 40 radio. To my pubescent self it was cosmic.

You don't hear many songs with distorted guitars and a shuffling beat.

I'm sure we have at some point - but it would have been 15+ years ago - I'm guessing.

Probably "My Sharona".

Left Banke had another hit, Pretty Ballerina.

I like the song Wildflower by Skylark. Kind of an unusual guitar solo and the song satisfies my misogynist tendencies.

At This Moment? Billy Vera….does he count as a one hit wonder? I feel like that’s kind of reductive term.

Oh God! I might have to go back and change mine! Green-Eyed Lady is one of those songs that is in a genre by itself! Way ahead of its time!

I like “ Patches”

The Hip Hop jam “Let Me Clear My Throat “ is fantastic

I like a couple named above:

There She Goes
Walk Away Renae

I like “ Just A Friend”by Biz Markie named above there, but he’s had a lot more than one hit.

My son was at a music festival a while back and when hundreds of people were filing out because the concerts were over, somebody starts singing real loud, “ oh baby you, you got what I need, but you say he’s just a friend, you say he’s just a friend…”. He said hundreds of people started singing it.

It wouldn’t be right to leave “Oooo Child” unmentioned.

Think the “ Patches” singer had other hits, though. Great song written by that fierce producer who ran Stax about his own life.

here a classic Canadian one-hit wonder!

they called it quit after their first album, when barely anyone showed up for their shows.

Are you guys talking about the old "Patches" tune by Clarence Carter? I just did a search and found that there are many songs called Patches... Or maybe they're all different covers of the same song? Which artist are you talking about?
