Still having the worst time getting REAPERS effects to load every time --correctly

Only use 5 plugs --- you think I could cement the chains path !!!

Guess I am spoiled for 40 years of having racks with effects --always there when you turned the unit on

No searching / VST / plugins/ Steinberg / etc.....

trying to institute a "one" plugin folder in the REAPER folder ... ERASE all other paths ;\)

Don't let the tech win \:\/

Kenny Gioia -- here I come to scan those U Tubes

DON'T USE THE REAPER PLUGIN FOLDER FOR YOUR PLUGINS - it is meant for reaper provided stuff only

If the plugins are VST3 - just let them load in the standard place. Reaper will find them there.

If they are VST2 you can make a folder and copy in the dll - but if the effect needs more than a dll let it load where it wants to load

I have probably WAY too many plugs - like at least dozens - and it ALWAYS just works. And so do thousands of other users.... I think you should throw away all computers and take up whittling or something.

Once it works - quit screwing with it trying to move stuff around.

Exactly ::: It worked the last song -- how did they move ??

I think it will stay the same from song to song --- all the sudden got a clients song up from several months ago -- certain TDR's are missing or Reverbs ---

I can easily spend 20+ minutes on hitting that RESCAN button -- hoping it will locate the missing plugs rewriting paths

( No real instructions on how to use "" might be some with Kenny Gioia this month uploads ""

Hey :: its all new to me -- hardware was my friend >> for so many years

Mainly have built photo folders all these years --- YOU have total control ~~where that image lands in WIN ....

Plugins are usually installed where they like to go. Moving them manually will create more headaches.
You could try and go to Options> Preferences>scroll down to and click "VST">click "edit path list">click "add path">select "C Drive or any other drives if you have others> click "Ok"> click "rescan".
And see what happens.

I have hundreds, and haven't set a single path.

No matter how many times people have helped, including me, who has posted step-by-step instructions, including pictures, CJo just doesn't listen, and has never spent one second looking over and learning Reaper (or Logic), even though he's been using it for like 14-15 years.

Definitely.

Tried that, but you know--it required disassembling my desk every morning to repatch the IO...took hours a day. I don't know how you guys did it...all those years having to disassemble furniture just to patch in a vocal compressor.

And having to relearn all of the knobs, buttons, and menus every time you used them, too. Why did those rack units change everytime they got turned on?

I wonder if Cjo knows you can tweak a plugin and name and save the plugin settings? After he finds the plugin of course.

No way that he does, Smelly. It doesn't matter, he doesn't tweak anything, just uses presets for everything. Who do you think he is, Geoff Emerick?

Take it away, Smelly!

Nope >> a single rack of APHEX 4 comps (Aphex Model 106 Easyrider 4-Channel) and the mixdown to cassette with a DBX stereo comp

22 channel board -- only had a 4 or 8 trk recorder -- so only used the comp on the four tracks of vocal or guitar >> grab the insert cable --boom-- done

That's on you, although you've been using it to master since then.

If you took just 5-10 minutes a day, twice a week, you'd have no problems.

You'd also have no problems if you just listened to the advice you ask for (over and over and over again), but you don't, and you can't seem to follow directions.

We've all gone over this with you repeatedly, but you keep doing the same old thing(s)....like in this thread less than a month ago, where your controller wasn't working because you didn't plug it into a USB port (and were looking for drivers that don't exist), and couldn't find your plugin(s) because you never installed them on your new PC.

https://www.vsplanet.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1926083#Post1926083

The problem wasn't your controller, and was not and is not your plugins or system, it's you.

You didn't follow instructions AGAIN!

You (force) installed a 64 bit plug into the 32 bit folder. You're causing yourself all kind of problems trying to "beat tech." You're just beating yourself.

One of the things I think is occurring is that you have 32 bit plugins and no file path to them.
I wouldn't use 32 bit plugs if I didn't have to, but try this:

Add these paths and rescan: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\VstPlugins;C:\Program Files\Vstplugins

-OR-

Just copy and paste this, replacing your old paths:

C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins;C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3;%LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Common\VST3;C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\VstPlugins;C:\Program Files\Vstplugins

Oops, I see you did.

You don't need to change things per song.
Don't do that.

\:D \:o paid plugins my ass

What does that mean? That you refuse to pay people for their work, like how you get paid for yours?

That's a really shitty attitude, especially for someone running a professional, for pay, studio.

There's nothing wrong with free plugins, etc. I have a cousin who doesn't want to pay for anything either, and I keep him loaded with freebies (which is why I know about so many of them) but he doesn't record for pay, and is not that serious at all.

Also, when the big boys give out freebies, I grab them, because why not? I also love great deal deals, who doesn't?

But c'mon, CJo, you're running a pro studio. I mean, nothing wrong with the freebies, but your attitude towards paying is just bad, and a terrible look. You didn't pay for your Windows license and I helped you with that, but I think you didn't pay for Reaper either. Again, a home recordist? I get it, I guess. But ya gotta pay for some things to run your business! Sheesh. I know one thing, if I ever come visit you, I'm gonna hide my wallet! 😂🤣

TDR are free (the ones you have).
UAD was free.
OldSkoolVerb (Voxengo) free.

If Reaper is paid up, why haven't you updated to a newer version? I can see staying at an earlier version because you don't want to pay for an upgrade that might have little to no benefit for you, but....

Well, to each their own.

P.S. you really should grab Vahalla SuperMassive reverb for free.

I would suggest Analog Obsession, but they don't install conventionally (afaik). The "install" just create a .dll file, and you have to put it in the appropriate folder (vst or vst3). It's not difficult, but I'm not sure if you wanna do it.

DON'T KNOW THIS VERSION YET -- rarely like updates __they tend to "move" things somewhere else...

Have it on board -- not easy to get handle on it
