I wouldn't let a woman treat me this way.

But how can you turn your back on your first love?

When I was a little boy the Orioles were Brooks Robinson, Luis Aparicio, Jerry Adair, Boog Powell, Frank Robinson, Jim Palmer, Dave McNally, Mike Cuellar, Paul Blair, Don Buford...

But they're long gone...

Spock might say it's illogical to be a fan-addict of a team just because they're the team in the closest proximity.

OMG welcome to the Planet's O's Fanclub. Now there are 2 of us.

If you were there back to Aparicio, then you like me suffered thru the worst sports tragedy ever, when a team I consider to be one of the 5 best MLB teams of alltime lost to the "Amazing" Mets in 69.

the lineup is a mantra in my brain, still is to this day.

Buford Blair Frank Boog Brooks Dave Johnson Hendricks or Etchebarren and Belanger.

My 2 greatest sports moments ever..

The first MLB game I ever attended, in the old Memorial Stadium. Walking up the runway and seeing that magnificent green field for the first time. I wish I would've dropped dead right then because my life never had a better moment than that.

and, the last game played in that park, the celebration afterwards. The theme from Field of Dreams started to play. What was going to happen next? Why, Brooks came running outa the dugout in full uniform, glove on. I cried and cried that day.

I don't think they have the pitching to do much in the playoffs this year. but in the next few years when Holliday blooms into another Gunnar, that might take em over the top.

oh I forgot to mention, I named my son after Brooks.

OMG, I forgot about you guys losing to the Mets!

But if it makes you feel better, it wasn't nearly as bad as the 1964 Phillies.

6.5 game lead on Labor Day.
Lost 10 games in a row.
Finished one game behind the Cardinals who went on to beat the Yankees in the world series.

I'm glad I was just a toddler and didn't have to endure that!

As for the Orioles, maybe it's just not their time yet...but they have some great young talent. Too bad you always have to deal with the bottomless pockets of the Yankees.

Well, at least you got rid of Craig Kimbrel (I warned you about him, AL)! Unfortunately, you still have two relievers we sent you who suck (Dominguez was good though, and maybe can find his way again).

Boston and Toronto aren't afraid to spend money, either. Baltimore, the town, has faded away post WW2, like Detroit and Cleveland. All the rest of the AL East are big cities, big money markets. The AL East is usually the toughest division in MLB. Over the years, I've often looked at the standings and realized the 2nd place Orioles would be in first place in one of the other divisions. But this year, maybe the NL West has been more ferocious?

The Yanks and the O's have fought hard for 1st all year. But the O's don't have a chance. Not when the Yanks have the best one-two punch since Ruth and Gehrig. And if the pitcher makes it past Judge and Soto, he still has to pitch to Giancarlo.

And like you said, the O's have come up short on pitching.

3 or 4 of us O’s fans.
They tend to do really well then crash, then come back.

We’ll see how the play offs go. 🙂

Pitching has been a problem for sure. Has been fun watching the O’s and Yankees trade first place all season

Thing about Baltimore, even if they don’t do well we still love our O’s And Ravens

Yeh, the Sox gave up long ago. Just rolled over like a possum with their legs up in the air. Don't hurt me! Can't you see I'm already dead?

I think a few of their recent victories were because the opposing team pitied them.

Hey, did you guys notice the Braves and the Mets are going to face each other in their final 2 games? That could be damn exciting, if the NL Wild Card race stays the same...

I wouldn't be surprised if the Yanks are already making offers for Bobby Witt.

So... how many ways are there for the O's to fumble the ball and blow it with... the Royals?

Gunnar hasn't homered in ages. Seems like he's been stuck at number 37 since the All-Star Game (which is, of course, an exaggeration...)

Have the pitchers learned to pitch to him to keep him from slugging them? Or is he trying too hard?

Here’s a quick and easy breakdown of the clinch scenarios for each team:

The Braves clinch a playoff berth if … they win either game of the doubleheader (or both). The only way they don’t make the playoffs is if they get swept.

The Mets clinch a playoff berth if … they win either game of the doubleheader (or both). The only way they don’t make the playoffs is if they get swept.

The D-Backs clinch a playoff berth if … there is a sweep in the doubleheader, and it doesn’t matter which team does it. If the Mets and Braves split the doubleheader, the D-Backs are out. And all they can do about it is sit on their butts and watch...

Do you guys realize how close we came to seeing a never-before-seen DOUBLE Triple Crown this season?

Only 2 men prevented it, Bobby Witt and Luis Arraez.

Only seven batters hit above .300 this year. This would have been called a "pitcher's year" if it weren't for the two giant mutant homo sapiens, Judge and Shohei.

I was just thinking about that yesterday, both the Ohtani and Judge, along with nobody hits .300 anymore.

What tremendous seasons by those two.

Arraez is on my fantasy team which just garnered a 3rd place finish. Ulank won, contrats biotch! I said early in the year Arraez might be the next Tony Gwynn but sheesh he is super roller coaster inconsistent.

If Trout hadn't gone down for the year I mighta won.

Poor Trout. He coulda been a contenduh!

Is he the most cursed of greatest players? What a great career he could've had if not for injury after injury and getting stuck on one of the worst teams in the Bigs.

I'd call it a tragedy -- except I can't feel too sorry for a multi-millionaire, when the real tragedy is those of us who struggle to pay rent and insurance.

I especially like Trout because he's as big of an Eagles fan as I am.

yeah I think he's a pretty certain Hall of Famer, despite the injuries.

I'm too empathic. Now I'm feeling sorry for the D-Backs, who could only sit and watch, and bite their fingernails, while the Mets and Braves pulled the plug and turned out the lights on the D-Backs' season.

I'm glad they're out, relieved, really. They're the Phillies kryptonite. A team built to do well in the playoffs, IMHO.

Wish isn't gonna be too happy though....
