Yikes 2000GB drive lol. I'd need a lifetime to fill such a space. Congrats! Looking good.

Congrats, Alan! That is an absolute beast of a computer, about the very best you could possibly buy... Killer processor, excellent motherboard, excellent project drive, very good cooler and power supply, and even the Define 7 case is a great case (my favorite of all cases...elegant and understated with none of the RGB bling crap)! And it helps keep things quiet, like the AIO and PS they chose to make that a quiet beast!
That computer will laugh at anything you throw at it, won't even break a sweat, and will still be a beast for many, many, many years... yes, rest of your life, and hopefully you get to grow very old.
And the thing is, you still have room to expand the RAM and have two more slots for SSDs, if you ever need it (and Smelly, my little mini PC that I bought recently has 3TB of storage with another m.2 slot available (it has 3 m.2 slots), so 2TB is far from overkill (Alan actually has 3tb, not 2)
I'm VERY happy for you, you're going to love that thing.
Just make sure to install all of your DAW related software onto the project drive and not the system drive.
Congrats again, what an awesome computer!
P. S. The only thing to keep a check on is the AIO cooler after some years, like maybe 4 years. I'm not saying it won't last a lot longer, and maybe forever, but it's the one thing that could need replacement if you leave it on all the time and run your pc hard. It's critical for the 14900's performance as those processors run very hot under load and will throttle significantly if not kept cool.

Agreed, that's a great looking machine.
And for all of youse guys that edit video… (anyone? Bueller?) 2TB is a pretty small drive. It's plenty for audio, of course! But not video.

And for all of youse guys that edit video… (anyone? Bueller?) 2TB is a pretty small drive. It's plenty for audio, of course! But not video. I'm curious how much storage you need for all of the videos you do. I'm guessing you roll with a good 10-12 TB. Well, at least that's not too expensive with HDD these days.
No doubt 2TB isn't a big deal these days. I've just added another 2 TB to my micro PC, which I needed to replace my aging notebook for my mobile setup, for a total of 5TB. I have two external HDDs (one connected at all times, the other I plug in when wanted) for backups and a couple external SSDs for clones of my OS/DAW drives, and of course a bootable USB thumb drive just in case. You can never be too safe with your data.
Kinda crazy a PC this little fits three 2280 M.2 SSDs.
As for Alan's PC, it's like the PC equivalent of a Porsche GT2 RS that can also fly. You might not need all of the horsepower now, and maybe can't fly it on the streets yet, but it's there if and when you want to and is a great ride even if you're just cruising the neighborhood! It's a baaaad mofo of a PC!

I was all thrilled with the MacBook Pro I bought about two years ago, but two years is a long time when tech keeps advancing at seemingly exponential rates.
I still need to replace my old Windows box for general purpose stuff, but my loaded M1 MBP should suffice for my music and photography work for a few more years, despite all the hype about the latest whizzy M4 machines.
By the way, my MBP has 32GB RAM and a 1TB internal SSD, and I bought a 4TB external HDD for sample and photo libraries. I just upgraded to Kontakt 8, and the stupid installer put the new libraries on the internal SSD without asking me, so I had to spend an hour or so moving the files and telling Kontakt where to find them. Their “Native Access” application is supposed to make that easy, but it really doesn’t. Maybe I should have reached out to C Jo for help?

Intel Core i9 14900K, 24C/32T, 3.2GHz – 6.0GHz
that's phukin' rockin'
my only issue with HUGE drives for storage, is that there is so much in only one location. drive goes bad, you've got a butt load of backups to go thru, assuming you regularly backup.
either way, wow! good for you!

Xeno, FWIW, that Aoostar Gem 10 cost me only $429 after a $30 discount on their site. It looks like that's over but it is on Amazon for $468, still a great price.
It comes with 32gb 6400MHz LPDDR5 RAM (soldered in, so not expandable, just like a Mac) and a 1TB PCIe 4 SSD, with two extra 2280 M.2 SSD slots. It has plenty of I/O, including USB 4 (and occulink, if you ever want to use an external graphics card), but the 780M integrated graphics is almost as good as the Mac.
Here's how the processor and graphics compare to an M1 pro: https://nanoreview.net/en/cpu-compare/apple-m1-pro-vs-amd-ryzen-7-7840hs
Aoostar Gem 10 from their site.
Aoostar Gem 10 on Amazon.
Not to mention, you can literally put in in your pocket for transport

MadG, that is an interesting and inexpensive little box. My problem would be that I currently have two 2TB magnetic HDDs in my old tower storing all kinds of stuff (I need to figure out what I still want/need), and two 500GB SSDs set up as system drives for dual-boot to separate instances of Windows 10 (my old ASUS mobo doesn't go to 11). I used to use one for my Sonar DAW, but I don't use that any more. So I don't need this box to have a lot of horsepower any more. It is where I do my taxes, banking, web shopping etc.
I was toying with the idea of dropping a few hundred $$$ to put a new motherboard in it.

I'm pretty excited but wary at the same time down to the whole W11 v Firewire thing (for my sapphire focusrite interface). I may have to move to USB and sell my two pro40's on eBay.
That said I have done a lot of research on-line and its possibly not an issue migrating my PCIe interface to the new machine. (fingers crossed) I also have cleared it with the supplier that Installing/Migrating the card won't affect any warranty.
Thanks for all the comments and advice.
.... Just make sure to install all of your DAW related software onto the project drive and not the system drive....
I'm not sure if that applies to windows OS. From the site I posted in the OP...
"For the OS drive, we include a super quick Samsung 1TB NVMe drive for your Windows installation and audio applications, which should have plenty of space to host your sequencer of choice as well as all of your plugins. Alongside that OS drive, we have a secondary 2TB Solidigm P41 Plus M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD, perfect for all of your large sound libraries in order to speed up project load times and your instrument browsing."
Would you agree that suggests its ok to install Cubase on the system drive?

Sure, you can, and won't have any issues. The thing is, your system drive is PCIe3, and the project drive is PCIe4, which is twice the speed.
No matter what, you'll be just fine; both are still very fast.

You have worked hard all your life and deserve whatever nice things you want/can afford
You cannot take it with you, might as well have nice toys now
That being said - that computer kind of reminds me of a saying from a co-worker

That thing is so over powered to run audio apps.....but it would be fun to have

congrats Alan!
i think these mini-PCs are quite interesting.
my computer is at least 5 years old, probably 6-7 years old tech in there. still works fine for the moment...
i sure would not mind at some point to get one of those little things, especially if it can replace my 'tower' PC.

I don't think what Alan is getting is one of the mini PC's
His is a normal ATX as far as I see
240 x 475 x 547 (WxHxD)
The last 4 computers I have bought (I go through a lot of computers for work installations) have all been mini NUCs though - other than not being to install internal cards they are GREAT.
Everything is USB now anyway.

i sure would not mind at some point to get one of those little things, especially if it can replace my 'tower' PC. It's not really about the age, but what processor you have, and how it's handling what you are doing now. If you're not maxing out the processor, then it's fine. If you're still using a HDD, maybe an upgrade to an SSD, etc.
Then again, for the price of some of those little boxes, maybe it does make sense. And the thing is, they're evolving quickly, and there are a couple with processors that rival, for example, an Intel 14700k (which is not too far from Alan's 14900k), such as a 7945hx/7940hx. But, although they are small (mini ITX) MINISFORUMS 790s7. , they're not micro-small, like that GEM10. As the new micro PCs come in, the prices for the older ones come down, and the difference in the newer AMD Ryzen 7 processors is very little, except for AI capabilities and slightly better graphics.
BTW, the onboard graphics capabilities in those Ryzen 7 processors are better than the onboard graphics of any other processors, laptop or tower, except for Apple's M series silicon, and they're not too far behind them, ether. Also, I wouldn't choose an Intel for one of the micro PCs as their built in graphics aren't even close to the Ryzens, and they're not as powerful, unless it's a 13900hx or a 14900hx, which are awesome processors, though Ryzen 7945hx/7940hx are comparable but, ironically, don't have any better graphics than the Intels, and not as good as their lower end processors (hs series) - so it depends on what you plan to do with them.
I was going to buy one of those 790s7 but I couldn't get a barebones system (they were out of stock everywhere), and I didn't want to pay almost double the price for one with a RTX4060 video card, because I don't need it; it's aimed at gamers, which I'm not. Also, it's not as portable, and that was my immediate desire/need due to two places I go to do work at (and don't need to bring a monitor, etc.). But no doubt, the MINISFORUM 790s7 is a significantly more powerful computer....though as bear says below....
That thing is so over powered to run audio apps.....but it would be fun to have True, but that just means it will have a longer useful lifespan, IMHO. Alan's grandkids might be producing music on it one day.

my only issue with HUGE drives for storage, is that there is so much in only one location. drive goes bad, you've got a butt load of backups to go thru, assuming you regularly backup. But here's the thing, the larger the SSD, the higher the TBW (Terabytes Written, ie endurance).
Example with Samsung 990 Pro SSD and most other M.2 SSDs: 1tb = 600 TBW 2tb = 1200 TBW 4tb = 2400 TBW
There is another rating called MTBF (mean time before failure), which isn't dependant on drive capacity. Example: all sizes of Samsung Pro SSDs have a MTBF of 1,500,000 hours.
The differences are this, basically: TBW relates to how much data you can write before the SSD reaches its wear limit. MTBF predicts the average time an SSD can run before a failure, which is kind of a broader indication of reliability.
But they are interrelated.
5 year warranties are typical, but they'll last WAY longer than that (1,500,000 hours is like 4,000 years, lol) depending on TBW (how many writes).
One real world example of the durability of drives that were in constant use 12-24 hours every day: way back when I set a sleep lab I managed, SATA SSDs were relatively new, and the sizes were small, ie: 64gb, 128gb, 256gb, etc. I built 10 computers and, for cost control, I picked 128gb SSDs and 1tb HDD for each computer.
I had the OS and testing software on the SSDs, had the data written to them initially, then, at the end of each day, I offloaded the test data to the internal and external HHDs and erased it from the SSDs for the next night's testing (it was before I took over the radiology department; the IT manager wasn't under me yet, and he was a real PITA, so I created my own little network/NAS in the sleep lab).
I used a simple but flexible little program named Second Copy to automate everything, which had the data going between 10 PCs and the (pseudo?) NAS, copying/moving and deleting at (different) set times every day. The computers/drives were on/running 24/7/365, collected data 12+ hours a day, with two of them 18-20+ hours per day.
In more than 8 years of use, not a single SATA SSD went bad or even came close, except for the SSD on my PC, which I tortured and it reached end of life (according to tests), so I replaced it. Not a single internal HDD went bad either (though a couple of motherboards and power supplies did). I had external HDDs that were a couple-few years older, from the old system that I was still using that did not fail and were still running when I left. That said, I did have a couple of external HDD failures. Both were "newer," one a WD and one a Seagate.
The points are: *You just never know, so always have more than one backup. *SSDs are very reliable, and IME, more-so than HDD, which makes sense due to no moving parts (and it doesn't seem to matter if they just sit unused, where HDDs seem to benefit from being "exercised"). *You should not fill up an SSD, and IMHO, and if anything, it's better to get a larger SSD drive than you need if you can, as the TBW will significantly higher.
Now, all of that said (if anyone even read through it), I have zero technical training; I'm self taught at everything, so maybe someone else here with a better technical understanding (Popmann? bear? Xeno?) has a different opinion and/or could explain things better if they felt like it. But I do have a lot of experience/knowledge at many things technical/medical/musical, and I'm just sharing what I know and have experienced. Take it for what it's worth, or not!

I was toying with the idea of dropping a few hundred $$$ to put a new motherboard in it.
I just used about $400 worth of gift cards that I got as going-away presents from my co-workers to order an MSI Z790 motherboard and 32GB DDR5 RAM from Amazon, and an Intel i7 CPU from the company's employee/retiree purchase program. That Employee Purchase Program has really good prices on Intel-branded stuff. Selection of 3rd-party stuff isn't great, and the prices are pretty much the same as Amazon and other web retailers.
Mobo and memory will be delivered tomorrow, but I expect it will be a few weeks before the CPU arrives. I should be able drop them into my existing tower case and be good to go. I'm thinking I'll just do a clean install/upgrade Windows 11, since all my documents and stuff are on the HDDs.

The GEM10 Mini PC looks interesting. I am using a laptop with Spitfire BBC Symphony Core and the laptop is just meeting the bare requirements. How loud is the fan on these small mini's?

The GEM 10 is very quiet. Maybe if you push it hard, like in doing torture tests with benchmark software, it might get noisier. Otherwise, it's considered "ultra quiet."

The GEM10 Mini PC looks interesting. I am using a laptop with Spitfire BBC Symphony Core and the laptop is just meeting the bare requirements. How loud is the fan on these small mini's? Like a hissy fart I just bought a hissy fart!
Hope You like it. I love my wee BeeLink machine.
My monster DAW should arrive on the 11th Nov

I'm curious how much storage you need for all of the videos you do. I'm guessing you roll with a good 10-12 TB. Well, at least that's not too expensive with HDD these days. True dat!
Let's see, right now I'm looking at these drives:
Macintosh HD (System drive) 1 TB Applications 2 TB SSD Current Video Projects 1 TB SSD Main Video Drive 8 TB Audio-Docs-Movies-Pics 4TB Video Backup New 6 TB System Backup 1 2 TB Temporary Current Video Projects Backup 2 TB
Not online right now: Time Machine Backup 2 TB Video Backup Old 4 TB
So I guess that's what… 32 TB? Something like that?
And just to give you an idea of what a video project takes up:
50 GB for the hour-long Trio shot that I just posted (one camera only @ 4k, and six tracks of audio)
436 GB for an hour and a half program that I just finished up (three cameras and one switched stream @ 1080, and two tracks of audio)
So it definitely adds up. I've done some three camera shoots @ 4k, and that really eats it up fast
