faganking faganking Space Cadet Registered: 03/16/04 Posts: 1 Loc: NYC	Hello, I have three 20bit ADAT's, a Sony DMX-R100 console and a LOT of very high end analog outboard gear. I have been asked to mix a record that was recorded on a VS2480. What is the best way for me to get the tracks into my ADAT's. Thanks in advance. BK

WinyardPro WinyardPro Planeteer Registered: 08/28/02 Posts: 3947 Loc: Great Southern Land.	Ask the VS2480 owner for a CD burn of his wave files and import off a PC/Mac to your Adats. If you don’t have that option, mix the signal directly from the VS2480 via the analog multi outputs. You will need to do a preliminary mix inside the VS2480 first. Line-in to the Sony DMX-R100 and route to your Adats, if you so choose or just mix that way. There’s also the DIF-AT24’s for 16 I/O of Adat (LP) but this is an expansion on the VS2480 and not a standard with the machine. If there’s a way for you to convert wave as most people do these days it is the basic standard and the best way to do this because of its cost effectiveness. Never the less, the VS2480 will synchronize via SMPTE or MTC making sync and analog transfer possible. Alternatively, the DIF-AT24 will convert the R-BUS format to Adat. You don't have any wave tranfer options and you own a Sony DMX-R100? Not even a laptop with Adat interface? _________________________ WINYARD-PRODUCTIONS.COM

Faganking, I just thought of another option for you, been around for a while now, it's a Fostex product called the VC-8. It goes for about $260. It takes 8 inputs and streams them to an ADAT light pipe output. Means you can record to the Adats direct. You may have to check if it's -10 or +4dBm.
