i just picked up my 2480 after having had the fix done. haven't even turned on the recorder yet, but (assuming the repair was done correctly!) i highly recommend Triple S Electronics in Bloomfield (i dealt with Karl).

after contacting them by phone, all i had to do was fax them my original receipt and the page from the official Roland site about the distortion problem. Triple S then ordered the Jack Board from Roland. When they received the part they called me, I brought the 2480 into the shop, and it was ready later the next day. very cool. professional. cooperative. minimum down time... unfortunately, not all shops are willing to work this way.

i recorded some drums tonight and the 2480 sounds great post fix. i'm tempted to say it sounds BETTER, but i don't know if that's truth or delusion fostered by relief at not having to worry about the distortion gremlins invading my space.

anyone with greater technical savvy interested in commenting on the difference in their machine post fix? just curious.
